We know that situations can be tricky and that many people rely on their bondsmen to provide them with a helping hand. Having said that, we’d like to run through a handful of fictional characters who we just don’t think would ever make bail. It’s probably a good thing these people don’t actually exist, because some of them are pretty wild!

Which Characters Would Probably Never Make Bail?

The Joker

There have been a number of different versions of The Joker over the years. From the silly and more lighthearted take in the series from the 1960s to actor Mark Hamill (famous for being Luke Skywalker in Star Wars) voicing the character for the animated series in the 1990s to Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger who have portrayed this character on film, each version is a bit scarier than the one before it. Created originally in 1940, The Joker quickly became known as Batman’s biggest threat. His origin has changed a number of times in the nearly 80 years that this character has been around, but one thing is for sure–no judge in his or her right mind would ever grant bail to The Joker! From bank heists to kidnapping and everything in between, The Joker should be considered more than a flight risk, and thus, ineligible for bail.

Herbert I. McDunnough

In 1987, the now famous Coen Brothers wrote and directed a film entitled Raising Arizona. Starring Nicolas Cage as Herbert I. “Hi” McDunnough, the film is known for its abundance of laughs and it’s interesting and captivating plot. A known robber of convenience stores, Hi falls in love with a police officer who is played by Holly Hunter. Shortly after their romance starts, they kidnap the son of a well-to-do family, stealing diapers, baby formula, and more throughout the course of the film. We won’t ruin the end of the movie for you, but if you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and rent it because we think you will thoroughly enjoy such a wild and hilarious adventure. Suffice it to say that at the end of the day, Hi McDunnough is probably not going to be making bail any time soon.

Harry Lime and Marv Merchants

“Who are Harry Lime and Marv Merchants?” you might be wondering to yourself. Well if you’ve ever seen the holiday classic Home Alone, you might have an idea. Harry and Marv, also known as “The Wet Bandits” are making a living for themselves by breaking into the homes of families who are away on vacation. Unfortunately for them, they target the wrong house, and young Kevin McCallister, accidentally left at home while his family is away, sets up a number of different traps in order to keep the would-be thieves at bay. The end of the film, as you likely have guessed, ends with the arrest of Harry and Marv. It doesn’t seem very likely to us that any judge will be giving them bail.
