That’s why in today’s blog, we’d like to share a bit of advice. In the past, we’ve had clients ask us what rules they should be following while they’re out on bail. Therefore the idea in today’s blog is that we’ll share that information for all to see. If you’ve been wondering what not to do while you’re on bail, today’s post is for you. Avoid Doing These Things If You’ve Been Bailed Out

Don’t Try to Skip Your Bail

This one might go without saying, but one of things that you should avoid doing at all costs is trying to bail on your bail. There might be some temptation to try to get out of town–or in our case, off of island–and make a run for it. Don’t do that. Skipping your bail can create a million other headaches that you don’t want to have to deal with.

When you inevitably get caught, your situation will be that much worse. The best thing you can do is attend your court dates, be as polite as possible, and try to make the best of the situation you’re in. Don’t get down on yourself for the situation you’ve found yourself in; instead, do something to make the most of it. That will be the key to your success.

Don’t Get Arrested Again

Once again, this might go without saying–but hey, you never know who might need to hear this advice–but you should most definitely not get arrested again. Finding yourself under arrest while you’re on bail means you won’t be out on bail anymore and you’re not likely to be eligible for bail this time around. The judge won’t look too kindly on someone who committed a crime and found themselves back in front of him or her after being granted bail once before.

When you are out on bail, consider for a moment how lucky you are that you were able to be released from jail. This allows you to go to work, run errands, meet with friends and family members, and handle anything that needs to be handled instead of sitting in a jail cell and not being able to do any of that. Rather than adding to your situation, make smart choices and don’t commit any crimes. You’ll thank yourself later.

Don’t Cut Ties

One common mistake that people make is cutting ties with those who are trying to help them out. This could be a friend, family member, coworker, lawyer, or bail bond agent. At the end of the day, you need a support system in place when you’re facing a difficult time. These people are there for you and they want you to make smart decisions. If you’re struggling, turn to someone you can rely on to help you make it through. The worst thing you can do is to ignore their offers of help.
